New book deals with botany, pro­duc­tion and uses of limes

Mus­cat - Dr M Mum­taz Khan, Dr Rashid al Yahyai, as­so­ciate pro­fes­sors from the Depart­ment of Crop Sci­ences at Sul­tan Qa­boos Univer­sity (SQU), and Dr Fa­had al Said, from The Re­search Coun­cil (TRC), have co-edited the book The Lime: Botany, Pro­duc­tion and Uses which was re­leased by fa­mous sci­en­tific pub­lish­ing group CABI.

The book is a com­pre­hen­sive and up-to-date re­source cov­er­ing the botany, pro­duc­tion and uses of limes, stated a press re­lease.

Con­tain­ing the lat­est re­search on limes by ex­perts in the field, rang­ing from botanical de­scrip­tion to post-har­vest han­dling and uses, it is the first book de­voted specif­i­cally to this im­por­tant com­mer­cial crop.

Lime is an im­por­tant fruit crop through­out cit­rus pro­duc­ing re­gions of the world, with its own spe­cific ben­e­fits, cul­ture and mar­ket­place, but pro­duc­ers face is­sues af­fect­ing suc­cess­ful cul­ti­va­tion and pro­duc­tion. The book con­tains in­for­ma­tion on breed­ing, ge­net­ics and bio­di­ver­sity of limes, or­chard es­tab­lish­ment, man­age­ment, pre­ci­sion agri­cul­ture, pests and dis­eases.
