Omani twins with hearing dis­abil­ity make big noise in US ro­bot­ics con­test

Wash­ing­ton, US - An Omani team, com­pris­ing twin broth­ers Hamoud bin Nasser al Sa’adi and Ali bin Nasser al Sa’adi, won the third place in the ‘Global Ro­bot’ com­pe­ti­tion held at Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton Univer­sity re­cently.

What is sig­nif­i­cant of the vic­tory is that the Sa’adi twins are suf­fer­ing from hearing loss. As many as 165 teams of young in­ven­tors from dif­fer­ent coun­tries took part in the com­pe­ti­tion. For the com­pe­ti­tion, the Omani team in­vented a ro­bot that helps in find­ing potable wa­ter.

Only Oman fielded a team com­pris­ing mem­bers with hear- ing dif­fi­cul­ties.

The com­pe­ti­tion aimed at de­tect­ing tal­ents and en­cour­ag­ing them to achieve more in sci­en­tific and tech­ni­cal fields.
