Al Faisal looks for points at Hungaroring
Muscat - Oman’s Al Faisal al Zubair will hope to finish among points in his bid to climb the championship standings when he competes in the sixth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the Hungaroring, near Budapest, from July 28-30.
The Lechner Racing Middle East team driver, on his season debut, has so far recorded seven points - scoring four in Barcelona (round two) and three in Silverstone (round five).
He is currently ranked 17th among the 29 drivers. However, he is ranked eighth in the rookie class among ten drivers. Dennis Olsen leads the rookie class with 84 followed by Matt Campbell with 69. Josh Webster is third with 40.
“I’m very excited to be racing in Hungary,” said FZ Racing’s Al Faisal.
“We were testing there a few weeks back and the team was really happy with the progress and pace. I am looking forward to racing there and hopefully getting into the points once again and to continue learning and improving.”
German driver Michael Ammermüller heads to Hungary on top of the standings with 96 points, a lead of 12 points over recent Silverstone race winner Olsen. Daniel Cammish is third with 70.
The sixth round of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is held on the sidelines of the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix on the renowned 4.381km Hungaroring, near Mogyoród.
Teams will be permitted a first 45-minute practice session on the course on Friday followed by a 30-minute qualifying session on Saturday. The 14-lap race takes centre stage on the circuit on Sunday.
