Al Faisal looks for points at Hun­garor­ing

Mus­cat - Oman’s Al Faisal al Zubair will hope to fin­ish among points in his bid to climb the cham­pi­onship stand­ings when he com­petes in the sixth round of the Porsche Mo­bil 1 Su­per­cup at the Hun­garor­ing, near Bu­dapest, from July 28-30.

The Lech­ner Rac­ing Mid­dle East team driver, on his sea­son de­but, has so far recorded seven points - scor­ing four in Barcelona (round two) and three in Sil­ver­stone (round five).

He is cur­rently ranked 17th among the 29 driv­ers. How­ever, he is ranked eighth in the rookie class among ten driv­ers. Den­nis Olsen leads the rookie class with 84 fol­lowed by Matt Camp­bell with 69. Josh Web­ster is third with 40.

“I’m very ex­cited to be rac­ing in Hun­gary,” said FZ Rac­ing’s Al Faisal.

“We were test­ing there a few weeks back and the team was re­ally happy with the progress and pace. I am look­ing for­ward to rac­ing there and hope­fully get­ting into the points once again and to con­tinue learn­ing and im­prov­ing.”

Ger­man driver Michael Am­mer­müller heads to Hun­gary on top of the stand­ings with 96 points, a lead of 12 points over re­cent Sil­ver­stone race win­ner Olsen. Daniel Cam­mish is third with 70.

The sixth round of Porsche Mo­bil 1 Su­per­cup is held on the side­lines of the Hun­gar­ian F1 Grand Prix on the renowned 4.381km Hun­garor­ing, near Mo­gy­oród.

Teams will be per­mit­ted a first 45-minute prac­tice session on the course on Fri­day fol­lowed by a 30-minute qual­i­fy­ing session on Satur­day. The 14-lap race takes cen­tre stage on the cir­cuit on Sun­day.
