Salalah Port ap­points An­drew Dawes as new chief ex­ec­u­tive

Salalah Port Ser­vices Co, which op­er­ates and man­ages Port of Salalah, has ap­pointed An­drew Dawes as the new chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of the com­pany ef­fec­tive from Au­gust 1.

The com­pany an­nounced the ap­point­ment of the new CEO in a fil­ing to the Mus­cat Se­cu­ri­ties Mar­ket on Tues­day. Dawes has ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence in a wide range of ter­mi­nal op­er­a­tional func­tions with sev­eral global ter­mi­nal op­er­a­tors over 20 years, Salalah Port said.

Dawes has held se­nior man­age­ment po­si­tions and de­vel­oped ex­per­tise in man­age­ment and port op­er­a­tions with dif­fer­ent or­gan­i­sa­tions in North Amer­ica, Europe, the Mid­dle East and Africa, it said.

Ear­lier in May this year Salalah Port an­nounced the res­ig­na­tion of David Gled­hill as the CEO of the com­pany as he is tak­ing over a dif­fer­ent role in APM Ter­mi­nals. The board of di­rec­tors of Salalah Port had ac­cepted Gled­hill’s res­ig­na­tion.

Salalah Port re­cently an­nounced its ini­tial fi­nan­cial re­sults for the six month pe­riod ended June 30, of 2017 when it re­ported a 88.7 per cent de­cline in net profit.

The com­pany’s net profit fell to RO303,000 in the first half of 2017 com­pared to a net profit of RO2.67mn in the same pe­riod of the pre­vi­ous year.

Salalah Port’s to­tal rev­enue dropped 7.8 per cent to RO25.82mn from RO28mn in the first half of 2016.
