70% of work on pas­sen­ger ter­mi­nal at Duqm Air­port com­plete: MoTC

Mus­cat - The Min­istry of Trans­port and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions (MoTC) has said that 70 per cent of the work of the third phase in­volv­ing the pas­sen­ger ter­mi­nal at Duqm Air­port has been com­pleted. The min­istry said in a state­ment that it hopes to com­plete the project by the end of this year.

The project in­cludes the con­struc­tion of a ter­mi­nal in a to­tal area of 8,660sq m with a ca­pac­ity es­ti­mate of half a mil­lion an­nual pas­sen­gers.

Statis­tics re­leased by Oman Air­ports Man­age­ment Com­pany in­di­cated a growth of air traf­fic at Duqm Air­port where the num­ber of pas­sen­gers reached 15,000 on board 234 flights. It is a 14.15 per cent in­crease on the to­tal air traf­fic un­til the mid­dle of 2017.

The work at Duqm Air­port was di­vided into three phases, the first and sec­ond in­clud­ing the run­way and taxi­way that can ac­com­mo­date Air­bus A380s, an ex­ten­sive road net­work and elec­tric­ity net­works.
