Tan­feedh com­mit­tee dis­cusses tourism sec­tor’s de­vel­op­ment in the sul­tanate

Mus­cat - The Tourism Sec­tor’s Steer­ing Com­mit­tee held a meet­ing to dis­cuss the de­vel­op­ments of the Na­tional Pro­gramme for En­hanc­ing Eco­nomic Di­ver­si­fi­ca­tion (Tan­feedh), re­view the per­for­mance in­di­ca­tors and as­sess the progress made in im­ple­ment­ing the sec­tor’s ini­tia­tives.

The com­mit­tee dis­cussed a range of is­sues and ap­proved al­lo­cat­ing plots for cafés and restau­rants in Aza­iba, Sa­rooj in the Gover­norate of Mus­cat, and Salalah. It also dis­cussed fa­cil­i­tat­ing the es­tab­lish­ment of in­te­grated tourism com­plexes, ho­tels and tourist at­trac­tions.

It also dis­cussed the sta­tus of the com­pre­hen­sive tourism in­fra­struc­ture in sev­eral wilay­ats. The Min­istry of Tourism (MoT) has floated ten­ders to de­velop com­pre­hen­sive tourism in­fra­struc­ture for Mus­cat, Dakhliyah, Dho­far and South Shar­qiyah gov­er­norates. The min­istry also awarded a ten­der for devel­op­ing in­fra­struc­ture in the Gover­norate of Mu­san­dam.

The com­mit­tee also dis­cussed the es­tab­lish­ment of one-stop sta­tion as a cen­tre for in­vestor and cus­tomer ser­vice at MoT through op­er­at­ing the cus­tomer ser­vice cen­tre. A model of the cus­tomer ser­vice cen­tre has been pre­sented to pro­vide fa­cil­i­ties for in­vestors.

The meet­ing re­viewed the ini­tia­tives made to fa­cil­i­tate the fol- low up of is­su­ing tourist visas for the new mar­kets. The team is devel­op­ing a mar­ket­ing plan for the spon­sored visas and eVisas and fol­low­ing up with rel­e­vant or­gan­i­sa­tions to in­tro­duce the evisa.
