MSM30 rises 0.59%; volumes decline
The benchmark index of Muscat Securities Market (MSM) rose 0.59 per cent to close at 5,027.35 points on Wednesday.
Trading activity deteriorated from the previous session as turnover decreased by 51.82 per cent to RO2.44mn and volumes declined 45.32 per cent to 11.81mn shares.
While the Financial and Services indices rose by 0.26 per cent and 0.52 per cent, respectively; the Industrial index fell 0.14 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed up by 0.1 per cent at 742.05 points. Market breadth remained neutral as seven companies closed up, while seven companies closed down. The rest eight traded stocks closed flat for the day.
Top gainers were National Bank of Oman (2.4 per cent), Sembcorp Salalah (2.36 per cent), BankDhofar (2.33 per cent) and Omantel (1.78 per cent).
Top losers were Al Anwar Holding (-2.69 per cent), Oman Fisheries (-1.56 per cent), Al Madina Investment (-1.52 per cent) and Galfar Engineering & Contracting (-1.35 per cent).
