Omani national honoured with McDonald’s Silver Hat Award
McDonald’s Oman has recently concluded its Advance Shift Management (ASM) class, a McDonald’s course that gives employees the best opportunity to enhance their skill sets and knowledge about the brand’s restaurant operations. It recognises employees whose job performances and professionalism serve as an inspiration to other members of the McDonald’s team.
McDonald’s ASM Silver Hat Award, a recognition given to the most active participant in the ASM class, was awarded to Salim al Jabri, an Omani manager who has been working with McDonald’s Oman for five years. Jabri was accorded with such an award as a result of his excellent job performance, hard work and active participation during the class.
“As an Omani citizen, I feel honoured to receive the ASM Silver Hat Award this year. I thank my colleagues for supporting me from the day I started my career at McDonald’s up to the present. McDonald’s provides such a friendly atmosphere where I feel valued, respected and recognised for my contributions. Various training opportunities such as the ASM have indeed given me and the rest of my colleagues the best opportunity to upgrade our knowledge and skills and help us become competent.”
McDonald’s as a global brand believes that the most important ingredient of its success lies in its people. Its robust emphasis is that human resource development is not limited to new recruits and junior staff, but extends way up the managerial hierarchy as well.
Amr Serry, training manager at McDonald’s Oman, said, “The brand’s ASM training course was conducted to evaluate the employees’ strengths and challenges, their job responsibilities and leadership behaviour. The course was aimed at reinforcing our people to deliver the brand’s strictest operating procedures, food safety and quality standards and customer service satisfaction. Jabri is one of the many local talents that we are proud to have as part of the McDonald’s team and will continue to help him climb the corporate ladder.”
Serry added, “McDonald’s continues to enhance the knowledge and skills of its workforce and help employees to have greater and better understanding of the vital aspects of the business.
“The ASM course covers key learnings, such as market penetration, profitability, employee commitment, leadership skill and various techniques to enhance a person’s managerial role based on the McDonald's philosophy. The course is aimed at raising awareness amongst managers about their crucial role.”
