Oman-UAE meet­ings dis­cuss agri­cul­ture im­ports, ex­ports

The Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries (MoAF) re­cently hosted a del­e­ga­tion from the Min­istry of Cli­mate Change and En­vi­ron­ment in the UAE.

The MoAF side, headed by H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Breiki, Un­dersec­re­tary, held a num­ber of co­or­di­na­tive meet­ings with the Emi­rati del­e­ga­tion, with fo­cus be­ing on agri­cul­tural im­ports and ex­ports.

Sev­eral MoAF di­rec­tors and heads of de­part­ments at­tended the meet­ings.

Eng Saif Mo­hammed al Shara, Un­dersec­re­tary in the Min­istry of Cli­mate Change and En­vi­ron­ment, led the Emi­rati del­e­ga­tion which in­cluded mem­bers from the min­istry, Abu Dhabi Qual­ity and Con­form­ity Coun­cil and Dubai Mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

Dur­ing the meet­ings, a num­ber of is­sues were dis­cussed re­gard­ing the im­port and ex­port of veg­eta­bles and fruits be­tween the two coun­tries and the ap­proved mech­a­nisms for the ex­port and im­port of agri­cul­tural items and phy­tosan­i­tary cer­tifi­cates for ex­ported and re-ex­ported con­sign­ments.

The meet­ings also dis­cussed the re­quired mech­a­nisms for re­port­ing any vi­o­la­tions, in ad­di­tion to dwelling on the farm­ers’ pro­ce­dures which fol­low good agri­cul­tural prac­tices.

The Emi­rati del­e­ga­tion vis­ited a num­ber of labs in­clud­ing the agri­cul­tural and an­i­mal re­search lab­o­ra­tory in Ru­mais in the wilayat of Barka, and some farms in Bati­nah gov­er­norates.
