First phase of the campaign took place in Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates
The second phase of the National Measles Immunisation Campaign for people between 20 and 35 years will be held from September 10 to 16.
The campaign includes the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Tuesday held a preparatory meeting chaired by Dr Saif al Abri, director general, Directorate General of Diseases Surveillance and Control and attended by senior ministry officials, representatives from the Directorates General of Health Services in governorates, regional hospitals, and those from the civil and military healthcare institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Abri praised the efforts of healthcare workers in the first phase of the campaign held in Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates.
He said a serological study has found that a certain percentage of people in the 20-35 years age group did not take the MMR vaccine.
Bader al Rawahi, head of the vaccination programme, talked about the sub-committees that have been formed in all governorates in order to follow-up and supervise the progress of the campaign.
