MSM30 rises 0.51% as vol­umes surge

Mus­cat - The bench­mark in­dex of the Mus­cat Se­cu­ri­ties Mar­ket (MSM) rose 0.51 per cent to close at 5074.39 points on Wed­nes­day.

Trad­ing ac­tiv­ity im­proved from the pre­vi­ous ses­sion as turnover in­creased by 8.09 per cent to RO3.32mn and vol­umes rose 56.86 per cent to 19.96mn shares.

While the Fi­nan­cial and In­dus­trial in­dices rose by 0.47 per cent and 0.32 per cent; re­spec­tively; the Ser­vices in­dex fell by 0.18 per cent. The MSM Shariah In­dex closed up by 0.41 per cent at 745.79.

Mar­ket breadth re­mained pos­i­tive as ten com­pa­nies closed up, while seven com­pa­nies closed down. The rest 12 traded stocks closed flat for the day.

Top gain­ers were Bank So­har (2.76 per cent), Gal­far Engi­neer­ing & Con­tract­ing (2.7 per cent), Bank Nizwa (2.15 per cent) and Na­tional Bank of Oman (1.89 per cent).

Top losers were Port Ser­vices Corpo- ra­tion (-5 per cent), Ah­libank (-2.86 per cent), Na­tional Gas (-1.99 per cent) and Oman Fish­eries (-1.58 per cent).
