MSM30 rises 0.51% as volumes surge
Muscat - The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) rose 0.51 per cent to close at 5074.39 points on Wednesday.
Trading activity improved from the previous session as turnover increased by 8.09 per cent to RO3.32mn and volumes rose 56.86 per cent to 19.96mn shares.
While the Financial and Industrial indices rose by 0.47 per cent and 0.32 per cent; respectively; the Services index fell by 0.18 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index closed up by 0.41 per cent at 745.79.
Market breadth remained positive as ten companies closed up, while seven companies closed down. The rest 12 traded stocks closed flat for the day.
Top gainers were Bank Sohar (2.76 per cent), Galfar Engineering & Contracting (2.7 per cent), Bank Nizwa (2.15 per cent) and National Bank of Oman (1.89 per cent).
Top losers were Port Services Corpo- ration (-5 per cent), Ahlibank (-2.86 per cent), National Gas (-1.99 per cent) and Oman Fisheries (-1.58 per cent).
