Cru­saders beats Li­ons for Su­per ti­tle

Can­ter­bury Cru­saders sur­vived a rally by 14-man Golden Li­ons to tri­umph 25-17 in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Satur­day and win a record-ex­tend­ing eighth Su­per Rugby ti­tle. The match took a de­ci­sive turn just be­fore half-time when Li­ons flanker Kwagga Smith was red-carded for tack­ling air­borne Cru­saders full-back David Hav­ili. An al­ready dom­i­nant vis­it­ing team stretched a 12-point half-time lead to 25-3 be­fore the home side ral­lied with two late con­verted tries.

Mar­quez on pole for Czech GP

World cham­pi­onship leader Marc Mar­quez claimed his fourth pole po­si­tion of the sea­son af­ter lead­ing Satur­day's qual­i­fy­ing for the Czech Mo­toGP in Brno, Czech Repub­lic. The three-time world Mo­toGP cham­pion from Spain clocked 1min 54.981sec on his Honda to fin­ish 0.92sec ahead of Ital­ian veteran Valentino Rossi, of Yamaha, with Spa­niard Dani Pe­drosa at 0.138 for Honda.
