FIH pres­i­dent and AHF boss of­fer sup­port to In­de­pen­dence Day of In­dia Cup hockey fest

Muscat - The world hockey (FIH) chief, Narinder Ba­tra and the chief ex­ec­u­tive of the Asian Hockey Fed­er­a­tion (AHF), Tayyab Ikram have lent their sup­port to the forth­com­ing In­de­pen­dence Day of In­dia Cup Hockey Fes­ti­val, which will be held at the Sul­tan Qa­boos Sports Com­plex (SQSC) on Au­gust 11.

In a joint let­ter, both the of­fi­cials ex­tended their sup­port and con­grat­u­lated the or­gan­is­ers – Em­bassy of In­dia in Muscat and Friends of Naqvi Group

– for con­duct­ing the hockey fes­ti­val for the 12th year in suc­ces­sion in co­op­er­a­tion with the Oman Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion.

The fes­ti­val will fea­ture two tour­na­ments – In­de­pen­dence

Day Cup and Am­bas­sador Cup – and a girl's hockey ex­hi­bi­tion game.

UTSC, Muscat, Team Coorg, Dubai, two teams of Team Coorg, Muscat, and Oman vet­er­ans' will con­test for the In­de­pen­dence Cup while Am­bas­sador XI, In­dian School Seeb and In­dian School Ma­bella will fight for the Am­bas­sador Cup.

The girl's ex­hi­bi­tion game will fea­ture stu­dents of In­dian School, Seeb and In­dian School Ma­bella.

On the oc­ca­sion, two tal­ented In­dian boys will also be awarded with the Youth award. San­skar Dubey (ta­ble ten­nis) and An­to­nio Thomas Biju (ath­let­ics) have been se­lected for this year's award.
