MSM30 rises 0.4%;vol­umes de­cline

Mus­cat - The bench­mark in­dex of the Mus­cat Se­cu­ri­ties Mar­ket (MSM) rose 0.4 per cent to close at 5,042.31 on Mon­day.

Trad­ing ac­tiv­ity re­mained weak from the pre­vi­ous day as turnover dropped by 34.88 per cent to RO1.11mn and vol­umes fell 26.79 per cent to 6.67mn shares.

While the Fi­nan­cial in­dex rose by 0.28 per cent; the In­dus­trial and Ser­vices indices fell by 0.16 per cent and 0.34 per cent, re­spec­tively. The MSM Shariah in­dex closed down by 0.04 per cent at 741.04 points.

Mar­ket breadth re­mained neu­tral as eight com­pa­nies closed up, while eight com­pa­nies closed down. The rest 11 traded stocks closed flat for the day.

Top gain­ers were Oman Na­tional En­gi­neer­ing and In­vest­ment (2.61 per cent), BankDho­far (2.33 per cent), Sem­b­corp Salalah (2.32 per cent) and Bank So­har (1.37 per cent).

Top losers were Al Suwadi Power (- 6.25 per cent), Na­tional Gas (-6 per cent), Oman Fish­eries (-2.54 per cent) and Al Mad­ina In­vest­ment (-1.52 per cent).
