Nadal may climb to No 1 in Montreal

Muscat Daily - - SPORTS -

Rafael Nadal says he'll focus on the foes in front of him at the ATP Montreal Masters this week, and not on his chance to return to No 1 in the world. A semifinal run in Montreal would see the Spaniard supplant Britain's Andy Murray atop the rankings. The top seed is expected to open his campaign for a fourth Canadian title on Wednesday with a second-round meeting against either Croatian Borna Coric or Russian lucky loser Mikhail Youzhny. Roger Federer, who seized his 19th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, is also slated to open on Wednesday. Seeded player results (first round, x denotes seeding): Nick Kyrgios (x16) beat Viktor Troicki 6-1, 6-2; Jared Donaldson beat Lucas Pouille (x13) 7-6, 7-6; Juan Martín Del Potro beat John Isner (x14) 7-5, 7-5; Roberto Bautista (x12) beat Tim Smyczek 7-6, 6-1.
