Oman rid­ers pick sil­ver in World Cup Qual­i­fiers

Omani rid­ers claimed a sil­ver medal on the open­ing day of the ITPF 2018 World Cup Tent Peg­ging Qual­i­fiers-Group A in Salalah

Mus­cat - Play­ers from Oman's Pro Mar­tial Arts And Fit­ness Academy re­cently re­turned from Sharjah, UAE, with a rich haul of medals af­ter com­ing up with an im­pres­sive per­for­mances at the UAE Sum­mer Ju­nior Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onship.

A team of ten play­ers, un­der head coach Harib al Ab­dali, re­turned with eight medals, in­clud­ing five gold, one sil­ver and two bronze. The eight medals also helped the team to fin­ish over­all run­nerup at the event.

The gold medal win­ners were Ab­dul­rah­man al Jabri (U27kg), Ni­bras al Toqi (U30kg) , Said al Rawahi (U33kg), Ab­dul­lah al Ashkari (U41kg) and Ahmed al Jabri (U53kg).

Adam al Shibibi won the sil­ver in the U24kg cat­e­gory while Yamin al Jabri (U30kg) and Leith al Ab­dali (U41kg) claimed bronze.

Speak­ing on re­turn af­ter the suc­cess­ful trip, Ab­dali, who is a former na­tional team coach, said, “The per­for­mances were en­cour­ag­ing from the young­sters. We are now pre­par­ing for an in­ter­na­tional open com­pe­ti­tion in Manch­ester, UK next month and we hope to re­turn with even bet­ter re­sults.”
