MSM30 falls 0.23%; volumes up
The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) fell 0.23 per cent to close at 4,994.34 points on Wednesday.
Trading activity improved from the previous session as turnover increased by 17.99 per cent to RO2.37mn and volumes surged 129.44 per cent to 21.46mn shares.
All the sectoral indices closed in red territory. While Financial and Industrial indices dropped by 0.29 per cent and 0.68 per cent, respectively, Services index fell 0.26 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed down by 0.17 per cent at 734.77 points.
Market breadth remained negative with three advancing stocks to 12 decliners. The rest 16 traded stocks closed flat for the day.
The three gainers on the bourse were National Aluminium Products (2.76 per cent), Sembcorp Salalah (1.34 per cent) and National Bank of Oman (0.47 per cent).
Top losers were Gulf Investment Services (-5 per cent), National Gas (-3.57 per cent), Voltamp Energy (-2.89 per cent) and Renaissance Services (-2.78 per cent).
