MSM30 falls 0.23%; vol­umes up

The bench­mark in­dex of the Mus­cat Se­cu­ri­ties Mar­ket (MSM) fell 0.23 per cent to close at 4,994.34 points on Wed­nes­day.

Trad­ing ac­tiv­ity im­proved from the pre­vi­ous ses­sion as turnover in­creased by 17.99 per cent to RO2.37mn and vol­umes surged 129.44 per cent to 21.46mn shares.

All the sec­toral in­dices closed in red ter­ri­tory. While Fi­nan­cial and In­dus­trial in­dices dropped by 0.29 per cent and 0.68 per cent, re­spec­tively, Ser­vices in­dex fell 0.26 per cent. The MSM Shariah in­dex closed down by 0.17 per cent at 734.77 points.

Mar­ket breadth re­mained neg­a­tive with three ad­vanc­ing stocks to 12 de­clin­ers. The rest 16 traded stocks closed flat for the day.

The three gain­ers on the bourse were Na­tional Alu­minium Prod­ucts (2.76 per cent), Sem­b­corp Salalah (1.34 per cent) and Na­tional Bank of Oman (0.47 per cent).

Top losers were Gulf In­vest­ment Ser­vices (-5 per cent), Na­tional Gas (-3.57 per cent), Voltamp En­ergy (-2.89 per cent) and Re­nais­sance Ser­vices (-2.78 per cent).
