Or­pic bags 5 awards at Asia’s Best Em­ployer Brand Awards

The event in Sin­ga­pore at­tracted more than 200 com­pa­nies from Asia-Pa­cific re­gion and over 400 se­nior HR lead­ers from the in­dus­try

Mus­cat - Oman Oil Re­finer­ies and Pe­tro­leum In­dus­tries Co (Or­pic) was fe­lic­i­tated with five top awards at the 8th Asia’s Best Em­ployer Brand Awards 2017 which was held re­cently in Sen­tosa, Sin­ga­pore.

This pres­ti­gious event at­tracted more than 200 com­pa­nies from Asia-Pa­cific re­gion and over 400 se­nior HR lead­ers from the in­dus­try, in ad­di­tion to top global brands across the in­dus­try.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease, Or­pic re­ceived five top awards in the cat­e­gories of Di­ver­sity Im­pact Award, Ex­cel­lence in Train­ing and Devel­op­ment: Best Re­sults Based Train­ing Award, Best Lead­er­ship Devel­op­ment Pro­gramme for Work­ers Award, Ex­cel­lence in Train­ing and Devel­op­ment Award and Best Ed­u­ca­tion Man­age­ment Pro­grammes Award.

Or­pic has been putting con­stant ef­forts to at­tract, re­tain and de­velop its em­ploy­ees while at the same time em­barks on a num­ber of regular train­ing pro­grammes and ini­tia­tives for both fresh grad­u­ates and em­ploy­ees through­out the year.”

Hosted by Em­ployer Brand­ing In­sti­tute (EBI), the Asia’s Best Em­ployer Brand Awards cel­e­brate out­stand­ing HR pro­fes­sion­als who are con­tribut­ing to tal­ent man­age­ment, tal­ent devel­op­ment and tal­ent in­no­va­tion and are a part of the EBI across 36 Asian coun­tries.

Or­pic places a sig­nif­i­cant im­por­tance to the learn­ing and devel­op­ment for its peo­ple. In 2016, each em­ployee at­tended an av­er­age of four train­ing cour­ses, ap­prox­i­mately 64 train- ing hours per em­ployee per year which is higher than the rec­om­mended in­dus­try av­er­age of 32 hours.

To date, 14 Or­pic em­ploy­ees are en­rolled into diploma and masters de­gree pro­grammes both in lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional in­sti­tu­tions. Or­pic has a unique lead­er­ship pro­gramme called Ar­riyadah. This pro­gramme is aimed to de­velop deep lead­er­ship com­pe­ten­cies for peo­ple lead­ers and de­liv­ered by top class global lead­er­ship train­ing providers.

Or­pic also has a unique pro­gramme de­signed for hi-po­ten­tial em­ploy­ees called Tal­ents Devel­op­ment Pro­gram. This pro­gramme is aimed to de­velop lead­er­ship and man­age­ment com­pe­ten­cies pre­par­ing tal­ents for higher re­spon­si­bil­i­ties and sup­port­ing the suc­ces­sion plan­ning process.

A to­tal of 36 em­ploy­ees com­pleted this pro­gramme in 2016 earn­ing them a Level 5 CMI qual­i­fi­ca­tion.

Or­pic ev­ery year re­cruits about 150-300 fresh tech­ni­cal grad­u­ates to meet strate­gic growth. The trainees are put through a Trainee Devel­op­ment Pro­gram which con­sist of six months class­room and six months on job train­ing. To date, 844 trainees have been suc­cess­fully in­ducted into var­i­ous plants across Or­pic.

Started in 2014, the Or­pic In­ter­na­tional Schol­ar­ship Pro­gram is a na­tion build­ing ini­tia­tive to recog­nise top tal­ents and pro­vide them with top class ed­u­ca­tion.

De­signed to pre­pare Oman’s most tal­ented young peo­ple for per­sonal and pro­fes­sional suc­cess, the pro­gramme takes them to some of the pres­ti­gious learn­ing in­sti­tu­tions around the world. To date, Or­pic has 20 schol­ars in top schools around Europe, Canada and the US.
