In­ter­na­tional min­ing in­vest­ment con­fer­ence to be held in Mus­cat

Mus­cat - The Min­ing In­vest­ment Mid­dle East and Cen­tral Asia, the re­gion’s main in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ence for min­ers, in­vestors and ser­vice providers, will be held at the Sher­a­ton Oman Ho­tel on October 9 and 10.

This is the only global min­ing in­vest­ment con­fer­ence in Oman ded­i­cated to at­tract­ing an in­ter­na­tional pro­file of at­ten­dees to the min­eral rich sul­tanate, stated a press re­lease.

It was launched in Oman last year by Spire Events (Sin­ga­pore).

The con­fer­ence had suc­cess- fully achieved this ob­jec­tive, where more than 40 per cent of the 200 at­ten­dees were from out­side Oman. The ma­jor­ity were in­vestors seek­ing new min­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties in Oman and the re­gion.

For the 2017 edition, the con­firmed par­tic­i­pants so far in­clude Sca­nia Group (Swe­den), Gold­core (Ire­land) and Fatemah Danesh­var (Ira­nian min­ing en­tre­pre­neur). The 2017 edition will also throw a greater spot­light on min­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able in Iran, Afghanistan and Cen­tral Asia, added the re­lease.

Min­ers and in­vestors in­ter­ested in th­ese re­gions should sign up to con­nect with the rel­e­vant de­ci­sion mak­ers and gain more in­sight on min­ing in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties and chal­lenges there.

Willem Mid­delkoop, founder of Com­mod­ity Dis­cov­ery Funds (The Nether­lands) and 2016 con­fer­ence speaker said, “It was im­por­tant to reach out to other peo­ple. It is very in­ter­est­ing to have a con­fer­ence in Oman and I am happy to be here.”

David Archer, CEO of Sa­van- nah Re­sources, which has cop­per projects in Oman, said, “The con­fer­ence had been a ter­rific show­case for our com­pany and it was well at­tended by in­flu­en­tial del­e­gates.”

In 2017, Min­ing In­vest­ment Asia, Botswana, Africa, Europe and In­dia have al­ready been held in Sin­ga­pore, Gaborone, Abuja, Frankfurt and New Delhi re­spec­tively. The con­fer­ence will re­turn to Panama in Septem­ber be­fore be­ing or­gan­ised in China, the UK, Ghana, Canada and Ar­gentina across 2017 and 2018.
