PAKISTAN INDEPENDENCE DAY SPECIAL FEATURE

Muscat Daily - - FRONT PAGE - Pakistan Zindabad!

It is privilege to felicitate to 272,000 Pakistanis in Oman for 70th Anniversary of Independence of Pakistan. August 14th is a culmination of a historic political, legal and democratic struggle for a sovereign State for Muslims of British India.

On this day, ‘Father of Nation’ Mohammad Ali Jinnah, a renowned lawyer and undisputed leader of our freedom movement, translated the collective aspirations of majority of Muslims in British India and established State of Pakistan..

Pakistan was conceived when Poet, Author, Lawyer and Philosopher Dr Allama Iqbal, introduced its concept in the All India Muslim League 1930 Session. Pakistan is thus considered as ‘Iqbal’s Dream’ receiving a euphorically mammoth endorsement in Lahore Resolution of 1940 whereas Iqbal, knighted by King George V in 1922, had passed away in 1938. Pakistan Movement (1930~1947) witnessed great sacrifices rendered by our forefathers for preserving our freedom.

Pakistan is world’s first ideological State born from aspirations for equality and social justice, freedoms and liberties including freedom to adopt any faith and equal treatment for mi- norities. It is the only State in the world whose national flag is split into green representing Islam and white representing other faiths.

Here, I would also thank our Omani brethren for the unconditional love and friendship, guided by the highest vision from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. May Allah grant him everlasting health and happiness and continued peace and prosperity for our Omani brothers and sisters. Amen!

Pak-Oman bilateral relations can neither be measured nor fathomed analyzing trade numbers for they are deeply rooted in unique bonds of affinity and kinship. Only our two nations understand their depth and dimension.

However, high and sustained trajectory of bilateral Political and Parliamentary exchanges and the best performance year for ‘Pak Oman Investment Company’ during 2016-17, since its establishment in 2001 as a tangible consequence of His Majesty’s historic visit to Pakistan, stand to testify facts.

Having served as Ambassador of Pakistan now for one year, I express my deepest appreciation for Pakistani community in Oman, ranked 5th worldwide, for its immense contributions and support towards unprecedented initiatives including ‘ WhatsApp Broadcast’ (+968 9198~0458) with 14,000 subscribers (4,000 awaiting addition) since January 2017 and e-mail Bank with 11,000 members.

It is thus my honour to announce initiative from our community to establish a website (and Instagram) titled ‘Young Pakistan Forum’ (www.YPFO.pk – www.youngpakistanforum.pk) to showcase the talents and brilliance of our youth in Oman and act as a bridge between our great nations.

I would close with expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for bestowing upon us His greatest blessing in form of Pakistan and rewarding us with sincere friends like Oman. I also thank all those who have lent support to this supplement.
