Over 740,000 re­ceive measles vac­ci­na­tion

Muscat has wit­nessed the high­est num­ber of vac­ci­na­tions (221,359) fol­lowed by North Bati­nah (170,609). The cam­paign ends on Satur­day

The Na­tional Measles Im­mu­ni­sa­tion Cam­paign (NMIC) wit­nessed a vast turnout in the first three days, ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Health (MoH).

As many as 740,645 peo­ple were vac­ci­nated at the end of three days across the coun­try as part of the sec­ond phase of NMIC.

Muscat gover­norate has wit­nessed the high­est num­ber of vac­ci­na­tions (221,359) fol­lowed by North Bati­nah (170,609).

The cam­paign which was launched on Sun­day is for peo­ple in the age group of 20–35 years and will help in mit­i­gat­ing and elim­i­nat­ing the dis­ease as well as pro­mot­ing im­mu­nity among peo­ple for a measles-free so­ci­ety.

The min­istry has called on cit­i­zens and res­i­dents in the tar­get group to visit the near­est health­care cen­tre and get the vac­ci­na­tion free of cost on the sched­uled dates.

The min­istry has also asked peo­ple to trust only re­li­able sources or MoH’s con­tact cen­tre for any in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing the dis­ease and cam­paign.

The cam­paign con­cludes on Septem­ber 16.
