MSM30 extends gains; volumes down
The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities market (MSM) rose 0.6 per cent to close at 5,114.67 points on Tuesday.
Trading activity deteriorated from the day before as turnover fell 30.29 per cent to RO1.56mn and volumes dropped 5.19 per cent to 6.05mn shares.
While the Services index rose by 0.38 per cent; Financial and Industrial indices fell 0.26 per cent and 0.81 per cent, respectively. The MSM Shariah index closed up by 0.02 per cent at 730.41 points.
Market breadth remained negative as four companies closed up, while 15 companies closed down. The rest 14 traded stocks closed flat for the day.
Top gainers were Omantel (5.33 per cent), Ooredoo (2.32 per cent), Gulf Investment Services (1.22 per cent) and Bank Muscat (1.01 per cent). Top losers were Oman Chlorine (-9.84 per cent), Oman National Engineering & Investment (-4.76 per cent), Oman Cables Industry (-4.65 per cent) and Renaissance Services (-2.77 per cent).
