Oman, Qatar sign MoU for food production, joint investment, export of products to Qatar
Muscat - An official session of talks between the sultanate and Qatar was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) in Muscat on Sunday.
The session was chaired from the sultanate's side by H E Dr Fuad bin Ja'afar bin Mohammed al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and from the Qatari side by Mohammed bin Abdullah al Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment.
The session focused on various fields such as agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
During the session, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between the countries pertaining to food production and marketing, joint investment and export of Omani products to Qatar.
H E Dr Sajwani said that the MoU seeks to explore possible opportunities for investment.
Rumaihi said that Qatar has investments in various fields in the sultanate and that Qatar aspires to invest in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm in areas of food in- dustry, strategic storage and investment in some fishing ports, as well as the development of infrastructure and urban projects within the urban planning of the coastal areas, especially fishing harbours due to their importance to food security.
The session was attended by H E Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture, H E Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Undersecretary for Fisheries and directors general in MoAF.
