Agree­ment signed for 300-bed hos­pi­tal in Mus­cat

Mus­cat – An agree­ment for a new 300-bed spe­cialised hos­pi­tal project in the Gover­norate of Mus­cat was signed on Mon­day.

Elixir United In­vest­ment Com­pany and Ital­ian en­gi­neer­ing con­sul­tancy Ser­ing In­ter­na­tional [Oman branch], were the sig­na­to­ries to carry out the ini­tial de­sign of the project on an area of ap­prox­i­mately 48,000sq m at a cost of RO100mn.

The project, ex­pected to be com­pleted in 2020, will boost the health ser­vices sec­tor by pro­vid­ing the lat­est global tech­nolo­gies and highly skilled hu­man re­sources in pae­di­atrics, or­thopaedics and ob­stet­rics.

The project aims to con­trib­ute to the new ap­proach of the Min­istry of Health, which en­cour­ages the par­tic­i­pa­tion of the pri­vate sec­tor in health­care at a more com­pre­hen­sive and broader level within the ser­vice pack­age and fa­cil­i­ties. The project will be im­ple­mented in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Italy’s sec­ond largest pri­vate health fa­cil­ity, Gemelli Hos­pi­tals.

Sheikh Nasser bin Mo­hammed al Hashar, chair­man of the Board of Di­rec­tors of Elixir United In­vest­ment Com­pany and Ser­gio De­moyo, chair­man and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer, Ser­ing Oman branch signed the agree­ment. Sheikh Hashar stressed the need for a com­pre­hen­sive pri­vate health fa­cil­ity to re­spond to the de­mo­graphic changes and chal­lenges of health­care in the sul­tanate.
