Global cues, sell­ing pres­sure pull In­dian eq­uity in­dices lower

Mum­bai - Weak global cues cou­pled with heavy sell­ing pres­sure in con­sumer durables, bank­ing and IT stocks pulled the key In­dian eq­uity in­dices lower on Tues­day.

The wider Nifty50 of the Na­tional Stock Ex­change (NSE) pro­vi­sion­ally closed lower by 80.75 points or 0.73 per cent at 11,049.65 points.

On the BSE, the barom­e­ter 30-scrip Sen­si­tive In­dex (Sen­sex), which opened at 36,277.12 points, closed at 36,033.73 points - down 249.52 points or 0.69 per cent from its pre­vi­ous close.

The Sen­sex slipped be­low the 36,000-mark to scale a low of 35,993.41 points dur­ing in­tra-day trade.

The BSE mar­ket breadth was bear­ish as 2,039 stocks de­clined against 810 ad­vances.
