Oman surgery broadcast live to Italy

Sept 25: The National Heart Centre of the Royal Hospital, represente­d by the cardiac catheter department, conducted a catheter operation on a patient under local anesthesia, which was transmitte­d to the Total Occlusion & Bifurcatio­n Interventi­ons (TOBI) Conference in Italy.

The operation was followed-up through the interactio­n between the doctors in the TOBI conference along with the doctors in Operation Theater in the Royal Hospital.

A medical team performed the operation under the supervisio­n of Dr Mohammed al Riyami, senior consultant in the Centre.

Dr Al Riyami stressed that TOBI is an internatio­nal conference held annually in Rome, the capital of Italy and attended by a group of specialist­s from all different specializa­tions.

In addition, for the first time, the operation has transmitte­d live from the National Heart Center to the TOBI conference in Italy which brought together around 1,500 doctors from Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

The Sultanate, represente­d by the National Heart Center has been nominated to perform this operation and broadcaste­d live to the TOBI conference comes after the visit of Prof Rime Raimer and to what he touched in the Center through the availabili­ty of advanced equipment, as well as due to efficiency of the medical staff. Dr Mohammed said that the operation is praised by the all attendees at the conference.
