Five hos­pi­talised af­ter fire en­gulfs Barka apart­ment

MUS­CAT: The fire depart­ment of the Pub­lic Au­thor­ity for Civil De­fence and Am­bu­lances (PACDA) said that it was able to con­trol a fire at a res­i­den­tial apart­ment in Barka.

At 9 am on Septem­ber 16, the PACDA op­er­a­tions cen­tre re­ceived re­port of a fire in one of the apart­ments. The fire and am­bu­lance teams im­me­di­ately rushed to the site and pre­vented the spread to neigh­bour­ing apart­ments, which re­sulted in in­juries to five peo­ple due to smoke in­hala­tion.

The in­jured were trans­ferred to the Barka health cen­tre af­ter re­ceiv­ing emer­gency care from the am­bu­lance team. Prop­erty dam­age have been also re­ported.

PACDA on Friday, cook­ing gas ex­plo­sion re­ported about a in an apart­ment in the Ma­bela area of Seeb. Two Asian ex­pa­tri­ates were se­ri­ously in­jured in the in­ci­dent, which was a re­sult of the cylin­der kept in a con­fined space with no room for the gas to move out. PACDA urged the peo­ple to take preven­tive pro­ce­dures and re­quire­ments in res­i­den­tial and com­mer­cial build­ings to avoid loss of lives and prop­erty.
