Na­tional trans­port sur­vey be­gins on Oc­to­ber 15

MUSCAT: The Na­tional Com­pre­hen­sive Sur­vey Pro­gramme for trans­port in var­i­ous gov­er­norates of the Sul­tanate will start on Sun­day (Oc­to­ber 15). The sur­vey is part of the Na­tional Ur­ban De­vel­op­ment Strat­egy, which is su­per­vised by the Sec­re­tariat Gen­eral of the Supreme Coun­cil for Plan­ning.

The strat­egy’s ob­jec­tive is to develop plan­ning tools and an in­for­ma­tion pro­gramme to “build an in­te­grated trans­port model”. The sur­vey will be con­ducted be­tween Oc­to­ber and De­cem­ber this year in co­op­er­a­tion with the Min­istry of Trans­port and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions and the Royal Oman Po­lice (ROP).

It will in­clude field sur­veys of traf­fic, be­sides traf­fic count­ing, au­to­matic traf­fic count­ing, jour­ney du­ra­tion sur­veys, road user be­hav­iour sur­veys through in­ter­views with ho­tel own­ers, companies and ve­hi­cle own­ers.
