Shura reviews replies of health, commerce and information ministers
MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura Office held a meeting chaired by Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali and discussed a number of ministerial replies on parliamentary questions sent by members of Majlis Ash’shura.
The office also considered the letter of Majlis Ash’shura standing committees on the different issues.
The office discussed the letter of the Council of Ministers on the annual reports for 2016 for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The ministerial reports included summary of the achievements made in 2016, the progress made in the Ministry projects, the major plans and strategies, in addition to key statistics.
The meeting reviewed the reply of Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism on the question about the services provided by customer service departments.
It also reviewed the reply of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health on the request to employ graduates of the optics at Al Buraimi University. The Office also discussed the question addressed to Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry on the stages of the laws recommendation by the national economic diversification programme ‘ Tanfeedh’.
The inquiry included the stages reached by the proposed draft laws (whether those to be amended or new laws), such as the Foreign Capital investment Law and the Commercial Companies Law.
The meeting approved the question addressed to Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information on the copied articles and the measures to be taken by the Ministry to deter journalists who violate the media code of ethics, as well as the role of the Ministry to neutralise their writings and make them consistent with the public norms.
