Oman Cricket likely to host Ramadan T10 tournament

MUSCAT: Oman Cricket is planning to organise a T10 knockout tournament during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to officials of some teams, the Sultanate’s cricket body has communicated to the teams saying ‘ Oman Cricket is pleased to announce that it proposes to conduct the first ever ten-overs-aside Ramadan floodlight knockout cricket tournament’.

The Ministry of Sports Affairs turf ground will be the venue for the proposed tournament.

The tournament is open for all teams registered with Oman Cricket for 2015-16 season and its players who have played with the corresponding teams, the communique added.

According to the official communique, the tournament is scheduled to start on June 5 and conclude on June 26. Matches will be played on five days of the week, except on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

For the 32-team tournament, the entries will be accepted on on first come first serve basis.

The last date for registration of teams is May 20 and the individual players can also register till May 25. The participating teams will be divided into two groups of 16 teams each and the the knockout matches will see each group winners competing in the final.
