Five-wicket Faizal stars for Re­nais­sance

MUSCAT: Re­nais­sance made a win­ning start to the sea­son, beat­ing Muscat Projects and En­vi­ron­ment by 40 runs thanks to a five-wicket haul by cap­tain Faizal Jerome Mo­hammed in their 50over A Di­vi­sion game at Min­istry of Sports Af­faris Ground I Fri­day.

Bat­ting first af­ter win­ning the toss, Re­nais­sance found the go­ing tough and kept los­ing wick­ets at reg­u­lar in­ter­val be­fore be­ing all out for 161 in 42.1 overs.

Opener Fer­nando (37), AshanDinura (36) were the only no­table scor­ers. Kadankot took three wick­ets for 27 runs while Vi­jeshChan­nen­gadan claimed two wick­ets for 23. Muscat Project could not of­fer much of a re­sis­tance, ca­pit­u­lat­ing for a lowly 121 all out in 34.1 overs. Faizal led the bowl­ing honours, claim­ing five wick­ets in his spell of 10 overs, two of which were maid­ens, giv­ing away just 41 runs. Amit Eranda (2 for 28) and AshanDinura (2 for 16) bowled well too.

Mah­mood lifts FAP UTSC

Mah­mood’s all-round dis­play led FAP UTSC to an easy 65-run win against In­dian So­cial Club (ISC) who were shot out for just 81 runs in a low-scor­ing 30-over B Di­vi­sion match at Mu­nic­i­pal­ity Ground I.

Mah­mood was the lead­ing scorer with a fight­ing 44 as FAP UTSC could com­pile only 146 be­fore be­ing all out in 26.2 overs. Sherif Mo- hammed (25) Fa­had Mo­ham­mad (23 not out) and Shameer Kari­adan (21) were the other bats­men who scored in the dou­ble fig­ures.

Chethan Mallya claimed three wick­ets for 21 runs while Puneet Singh (3 for 24) and Shrey Wilson (2 for 32) also bowled well.

ISC failed to chase even a small to­tal and were bowled out for a mea­gre 81 in just 17.3 overs. Chethan Mallya, bat­ting at num­ber 9, top­scored with 19.

Su­perb match-win­ning per­for­mances by by Krunal Kishor Ahay and cap­tain Vikas Bhado­ria helped STS Te­bodin regis­ter an im­pres­sive 52-run vic­tory against Rukun Al Yaqeen (RAY) in a 20over D Di­vi­sion game at Mu­nic­i­pal­ity Ground II.

Bat­ting first, STS posted a re­spectable to­tal of 159 for four in their quota of 20 overs.
