Startup Grind hosts founder, CEO of ArabNet

MUSCAT: Startup Oman, the Sul­tanate’s only on­line plat­form cre­ated by en­trepreneurs for en­trepreneurs and the des­ig­nated chap­ter of Startup Grind in Oman, has hosted Startup Grind re­cently. In­no­va­tion Fac­tory as the event part­ner and Wadi Ac­cel­er­a­tor as the ex­clu­sive lo­cal spon­sor hosted startup Grind.

Fea­tured on Startup Grind’s stage was Omar Chris­tidis, founder and CEO of ArabNet, the lead­ing events & me­dia com­pany fo­cused on the Arab web and mo­bile in­dus­try.

ArabNet or­gan­ises the lead­ing con­fer­ences for the dig­i­tal sec­tor in MENA in­clud­ing an­nual events in Beirut, Dubai and Riyadh. ArabNet also pub­lishes news and anal­y­sis on the web and mo­bile in­dus­try on its on­line por­tal and print mag­a­zine, The ArabNet Quar­terly.

Omar spoke on the suc­cess of Arabnet events say­ing: “Mea­sur­ing our im­pact is cru­cial to our op­er­a­tions. We have heard many sto­ries of how Arabnet has af­fected peo­ple’s lives. For ex­am­ple, one of Ca­reem’s co­founders met the other two co­founders in an Arabnet event! How­ever, we also know that 40% of com­pa­nies have met in­vestors, 60% have met clients, and 70% have re­ceived sig­nif­i­cant me­dia ex­po­sure through our con­fer­ences.” He con­tin­ued, “The main chal­lenge we are now faced with at the mo­ment is ad­dress­ing scale ver­sus in­no­va­tion. It is im­por­tant for us to be able to re­peat pro­cesses to scale, how­ever at the same time, re­main­ing in­no­va­tive enough to com­pete and pro­vide value.
