Nawaz likely to return home for court appearance today
ISLAMABAD: Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to return to Pakistan to appear before a trial court hearing graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him and members of his family.
Quoting sources, reported, Sharif will land in Islamabad today (Friday) morning to appear before the accountability court which is to indict him, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar on Oct 13 (Friday).
On Oct 5, the former prime minister departed for London to visit his ailing wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz undergoing treatment for threat cancer.
Sharif and his sons – Hussain and Hassan – have been named in three NAB references, while Maryam and her husband have been named only in a reference related to the family’s London flats.
Following the passage of Election Reforms Act 2017 on Tuesday (Oct 3), Sharif was re- elected unopposed as the president of PML-N party since no other party leader submitted nomination papers for the slot of the party president.
