SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the continued house detention of the Mirwaiz. The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “By placing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house con- finement, the authorities are preventing him from carrying out his religious, political and social activities.”

He deplored that the house detention of the Mirwaiz without any reason has become a routine for the authorities. This aggressive approach of the ruling class cannot stop the Mirwaiz and the people of Kashmir from raising their voice for their right to self-determination, he added. The spokesman also condemned detention of the forum leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, at Saddar police station in Islamabad, saying that his health was deteriorating due to incarceration.
