KATI slammed K-Elec­tric tar­iff in­crease

KARACHI: Pres­i­dent of Ko­rangi As­so­ci­a­tion of Trade & In­dus­try ( KATI) Tariq Malik, Se­nior Vice Pres­i­dent Sal­man As­lam and Vice Pres­i­dent Ju­naid Naqi slammed the in­crease in K- Elec­tric tar­iff and de­manded to take back this de­ci­sion, in a state­ment. Pres­i­dent Tariq Malik said that busi­ness and in­dus­tri­al­ist com­mu­nity of Karachi al­ready have en­graved reser­va­tions on KElec­tric tar­iff, de­spite this 75 paisa in­crease in tar­iff is un­ac­cept­able for in­dus­trial, com­mer­cial and do­mes­tic con­sumer.

He noted that Busi­ness com­mu­nity al­ready told NEPRA about its con­cerns over K-Elec­tric Tar­iff but this went un­heard by the author­ity. He said that in­dus­try in Karachi al­ready fac­ing the bur­den of high cost of pro­duc­tion and do­ing busi­ness, the cur­rent in­crease in the tar­iff will ef­fect more bit­terly on the sit­u­a­tion. He said that in­dus­trial and do­mes­tic con­sumer were de­prived from the re­lief in en­ergy tar­iffs on many oc­ca­sions in past. Pres­i­dent KATI ap­pealed to Prime Min­is­ter Shahid Khaqan Ab­basi to take im­me­di­ate no­tice of this de­ci­sion and to make or­ders to re­vert this de­ci­sion.
