DI Khan official protecting suspects of assault on girl, claims PTI MNA
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Dawar Khan Kundi on Thursday claimed that an official in the Dera Ismail Khan area is protecting and supporting those involved in the assault of a girl from the area.
In a letter penned down by the PTI lawmaker, it is alleged that an official in DI Khan, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, is related to the family, which initiated the attack. Kundi, who was elected from NA-25 Tank, also asked PTI Chairperson Imran Khan and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to removed Ali Amin from post.
Reacting to the allegations, AliAmin claimed that Kundi is using the case for his personal interests. “He is a political rival and is forcing the survivor to say what he wants.”
On Tuesday, four suspects of the eight arrested for involvement in assault confessed to their crime.
The suspects have been remanded into police custody and are currently being investigated. However, the prime suspect, identified as Sajawal, has yet to be apprehended.
The incident occurred on October 27, when the 16year-old girl was returning home after fetching water when men surrounded her, stripped her and forcefully made her walk in the locality for an hour.
The girl’s screams for help fell on deaf ears as no one came to her rescue. The witnesses’ claimed that nobody came to help her because they were scared.
The incident's survivor was ‘punished’ for her brother’s behaviour. Around three-years-ago, her brother, identified as Sajjad, got involved in a relationship with a girl from the village.
