DI Khan of­fi­cial pro­tect­ing sus­pects of as­sault on girl, claims PTI MNA

DERA IS­MAIL KHAN: Pak­istan Tehreek-e-In­saf MNA Dawar Khan Kundi on Thurs­day claimed that an of­fi­cial in the Dera Is­mail Khan area is pro­tect­ing and sup­port­ing those in­volved in the as­sault of a girl from the area.

In a let­ter penned down by the PTI law­maker, it is al­leged that an of­fi­cial in DI Khan, Ali Amin Khan Gan­da­pur, is re­lated to the fam­ily, which ini­ti­ated the at­tack. Kundi, who was elected from NA-25 Tank, also asked PTI Chair­per­son Im­ran Khan and Chief Min­is­ter Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa to re­moved Ali Amin from post.

Re­act­ing to the al­le­ga­tions, AliAmin claimed that Kundi is us­ing the case for his per­sonal in­ter­ests. “He is a po­lit­i­cal ri­val and is forc­ing the sur­vivor to say what he wants.”

On Tues­day, four sus­pects of the eight ar­rested for in­volve­ment in as­sault con­fessed to their crime.

The sus­pects have been re­manded into po­lice cus­tody and are cur­rently be­ing in­ves­ti­gated. How­ever, the prime sus­pect, iden­ti­fied as Sa­jawal, has yet to be ap­pre­hended.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred on Oc­to­ber 27, when the 16year-old girl was re­turn­ing home after fetch­ing wa­ter when men sur­rounded her, stripped her and force­fully made her walk in the lo­cal­ity for an hour.

The girl’s screams for help fell on deaf ears as no one came to her res­cue. The wit­nesses’ claimed that no­body came to help her be­cause they were scared.

The in­ci­dent's sur­vivor was ‘pun­ished’ for her brother’s be­hav­iour. Around three-years-ago, her brother, iden­ti­fied as Sajjad, got in­volved in a re­la­tion­ship with a girl from the vil­lage.
