Dr. Iqbal Day celebrated
KHAIRPUR: The 140th Birthday of renowned scholar and poet of east Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was celebrated by Department of Teacher Education, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. A seminar was organized to mark the day. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Chairman, Department of Teacher Education was the keynote speaker on the eve of seminar.
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, said Dr. Iqbal was the great poet, politician and philosopher of the history of sub-continent. The thoughts of Iqbal were inspiration behind Pakistan Movement as resulted in the Independence of Pakistan.
Dr. Mallah further said that our educational system must provide instruction, training and practice in the Islamic concepts of freedom and equality in order to bring about that kind of "spiritual democracy which is the ultimate aim of Islam."
The central theme of Iqbal's educational philosophy is to produce an Islamic type of personality and character building through the training of human will so that they can play their destined role in the world in facing the severe challenges of this era.
He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice-Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur for creating encouraging environment for quality Education to produce quality graduates to serve the nation in befitting manner.
Syed Zahid Hussain Shah, Ms Farzana Khoso, Ms Firdous Bugti and Mr Tahir Bhanbhro also talked on this occasion and paid the rich tribute to Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
A large number of the students attended the seminar.
