Dr. Iqbal Day cel­e­brated

KHAIR­PUR: The 140th Birth­day of renowned scholar and poet of east Dr. Al­lama Muham­mad Iqbal was cel­e­brated by De­part­ment of Teacher Ed­u­ca­tion, Shah Ab­dul Latif Univer­sity, Khair­pur. A sem­i­nar was or­ga­nized to mark the day. Prof. Dr. Ghu­lam Ali Mal­lah, Chair­man, De­part­ment of Teacher Ed­u­ca­tion was the key­note speaker on the eve of sem­i­nar.

Prof. Dr. Ghu­lam Ali Mal­lah, said Dr. Iqbal was the great poet, politi­cian and philoso­pher of the his­tory of sub-con­ti­nent. The thoughts of Iqbal were in­spi­ra­tion be­hind Pak­istan Move­ment as re­sulted in the In­de­pen­dence of Pak­istan.

Dr. Mal­lah fur­ther said that our ed­u­ca­tional sys­tem must pro­vide in­struc­tion, train­ing and prac­tice in the Is­lamic con­cepts of free­dom and equal­ity in or­der to bring about that kind of "spir­i­tual democ­racy which is the ul­ti­mate aim of Is­lam."

The cen­tral theme of Iqbal's ed­u­ca­tional phi­los­o­phy is to pro­duce an Is­lamic type of per­son­al­ity and char­ac­ter build­ing through the train­ing of hu­man will so that they can play their des­tined role in the world in fac­ing the se­vere chal­lenges of this era.

He ap­pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice-Chan­cel­lor, Shah Ab­dul Latif Univer­sity, Khair­pur for creat­ing en­cour­ag­ing en­vi­ron­ment for qual­ity Ed­u­ca­tion to pro­duce qual­ity grad­u­ates to serve the na­tion in be­fit­ting man­ner.

Syed Zahid Hus­sain Shah, Ms Farzana Khoso, Ms Fir­dous Bugti and Mr Tahir Bhanbhro also talked on this oc­ca­sion and paid the rich trib­ute to Dr. Al­lama Muham­mad Iqbal.

A large num­ber of the stu­dents at­tended the sem­i­nar.
