ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has reserved the judgment in the disqualification case pertaining to Pakistan Tehreek-eInsaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court resumed its hearing into PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s petition seeking disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen. Abbasi has sought the PTI leaders’ disqualification over non-declaration of their offshore companies in nomination papers and running party affairs through foreign funding.

During hearing, the counsel for Imran Khan Naeem Bukhari winded up his arguments before the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.

After hearing the arguments from his lawyer Naeem Bukhari and petitioner Hanif Abbasi's counselor, Akran Sheikh, court reserved the verdict. "Don't expect that verdict will be given tomorrow as the legal matters and verdict take time," Chief Justice remarked. "We are in search of truth," CJP added.

Justice Nisar further remarked that the bench will look into arguments of both sides. At the end of his arguments, Akram Sheikh requested top court to remember Panama case verdict before giving decision in this case.

Regarding Tareen’s case, the court has also reserved the judgment. The plaintiff Abbasi’s counsel Akram Sheikh argued that the presence of the offshore company was not declared in tax returns and nomination papers of PTI leader. During the previous hearing on November 9, the chief justice observed that Tareen has already served his punishment according to the law.

On the other hand, Imran Khan appeared before an anti- terrorism court in Islamabad after a gap of three years in SSP Asmatullah Junejo torture case.

The special court also ordered Imran Khan to cooperate with the investigation and get his statement recorded before police.

TheAnti-terrorism Court (ATC) court granted Imran Khan bail in all four cases including the assault at the PTV and the Parliament, and ended his Proclaimed Offender status.
