Karachi’s suspected knife attacker gets bail
KARACHI: "The University of Karachi students clinched first position among 126 projects displayed from 30 different universities from all over Pakistan at the DICE (Distinguished Innovation Collaboration Entrepreneurship Foundation USA)- UAF Innovation event themed Agriculture and Food Sciences (AFS) held during 7-8 November 2017 at University ofAgriculture Faisalabad.
University of Karachi showed full participation in the event with 35 students repre- sented 14 projects from Department of Botany, Department of Agriculture & Agribusiness, Food Science & Technology and Karachi University Business School under the umbrella of ORIC- University of Karachi. Among them two projects from Department of Botany University of Karachi were short listed and secured 1st and 6th position. Two students from department of botany Hira Anwar and Marium Asif while two students from Karachi University Business School (KUBS) Bakhtiar Ali and Fabiha Erfan secured the positions.
KARACHI: The AntiTerrorism Court (ATC) issued orders on Tuesday for the release of Shahzad, who was accused of stabbing women in the city.
During a hearing on the case, police told the court no evidence was found against Shahzad, which is why he should be granted bail.
Subsequently, Shahzad was released under Section 497 of Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C.), 1898. Under the law, bail may be taken in cases of non-bailable offence.
Shahzad was arrested in October in Karachi, after the city police released pictures screen grabs from the Closed-Circuit Camera Television (CCTV) footage of the suspect. The photos showed a man on a motorbike moments before attacks one of the victims.
