SC constitutes committee to probe into defects in construction of Islamabad airport
LAHORE: Supreme Court (SC) has constituted a committee to probe into the matter of faults in the construction of Islamabad Airport.
The court has directed that the committee comprising officers of PIA and Civil Aviation should file report within two weeks.
Athree member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing suo motu notice on defects in the construction of new airport of Islamabad.
Senior officers including CEO PIA and DG Civil Aviation appeared before the court. CJP while expressing surprise remarked what type of this construction was that it was filled with water.CJP inquired who constructed airport.
It was told that civil aviation got constructed airport.
CJP remarked the report is there that Chaudhry Munir has got constructed airport. If he is not behind the construction then why he is being named repeatedly. The court while expressing dissatisfaction over the report about construction of airport directed that a brief and comprehensive report be presented of this matter rather than a 300 pages report.
