SC con­sti­tutes com­mit­tee to probe into de­fects in con­struc­tion of Islamabad air­port

LA­HORE: Supreme Court (SC) has con­sti­tuted a com­mit­tee to probe into the mat­ter of faults in the con­struc­tion of Islamabad Air­port.

The court has di­rected that the com­mit­tee com­pris­ing of­fi­cers of PIA and Civil Avi­a­tion should file re­port within two weeks.

Athree mem­ber bench of SC presided over by Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hear­ing suo motu no­tice on de­fects in the con­struc­tion of new air­port of Islamabad.

Se­nior of­fi­cers in­clud­ing CEO PIA and DG Civil Avi­a­tion ap­peared be­fore the court. CJP while ex­press­ing sur­prise re­marked what type of this con­struc­tion was that it was filled with wa­ter.CJP in­quired who con­structed air­port.

It was told that civil avi­a­tion got con­structed air­port.

CJP re­marked the re­port is there that Chaudhry Mu­nir has got con­structed air­port. If he is not be­hind the con­struc­tion then why he is be­ing named re­peat­edly. The court while ex­press­ing dis­sat­is­fac­tion over the re­port about con­struc­tion of air­port di­rected that a brief and com­pre­hen­sive re­port be pre­sented of this mat­ter rather than a 300 pages re­port.
