Min­eral com­pa­nies to be charged for us­age of un­der­ground wa­ter

IS­LAM­ABAD: Supreme Court Chief Jus­tice Mian Saqib Nisar on Fri­day said min­eral wa­ter com­pa­nies will have to pay for us­age of un­der­ground wa­ter they are us­ing.

The top court judge has also sought a com­pre­hen­sive re­port on com­pa­nies pro­duc­ing min­eral wa­ter in the coun­try.

The chief jus­tice, dur­ing the hear­ing, ques­tioned, “Let me know how much un­der­ground wa­ter the min­eral com­pa­nies are us­ing.

The apex court judge fur­ther ques­tioned, “How much the min­eral wa­ter com­pa­nies pay for? The chief jus­tice re­marked the un­der­ground wa­ter is not free of cast, adding its price has been equal to the price of gold.

Hear­ing of a case per­tain­ing to use of un­der­ground wa­ter by min­eral com­pa­nies will be held to­day in La­hore Registry of Supreme Court.
