Sindh govt bans swim­ming in sea for 30 days

KARACH I : Gov­ern­ment of Sindh has im­posed a ban on swim­ming and bathing at Karachi’s beaches for 30 days.

Ac­cord­ing to a no­ti­fi­ca­tion is­sued by home depart­ment on Fri­day, “the gov­ern­ment of Sindh to en­sure safety of pub­lic lives and to pre­vent any un­to­ward sit­u­a­tion due to drown­ing in sea has im­posed a ban on swim­ming/bathing at the beaches within the ter­ri­to­rial lim­its of Karachi di­vi­sion for 30 days with ef­fect from Septem­ber 17, 2018”.

Ear­lier, Com­mis­sioner of Karachi has sent a let­ter to the au­thor­i­ties men­tion­ing that a large num­ber of gen­eral pub­lic is ex­pected to visit the dif­fer­ent beaches of Karachi di­vi­sion for swim­ming/bathing and there is ap­pre­hen­sion of loss of lives due to high tide in the sea. There­fore, he has re­quested to im­pose ban un­der sec­tion 144 Cr.P.C. to pro­tect hu­man lives and avoid any tragic in­ci­dent.

The SHOs of all rel­e­vant po­lice sta­tions have been au­tho­rized to reg­is­ter com­plaints un­der Sec­tion 188 of the Pak­istan Pe­nal Code against vi­o­la­tors of this no­ti­fi­ca­tion.
