Pun­jab govt re­views new local bod­ies bill

LA­HORE: De­lib­er­a­tions of the new local bod­ies bill in Pun­jab is in fi­nal stage.

This was told in a high level meet­ing held chaired by Se­nior Pro­vin­cial Min­is­ter Ab­dul Aleem Khan . Law Min­is­ter Pun­jab Mo­ham­mad Basharat Raja was also present on the oc­ca­sion . The meet­ing dis­cussed in de­tail the pro­posed rec­om­men­da­tions.

While speak­ing the meet­ing, Ab­dul Aleem Khan said that keep­ing in view the past ex­pe­ri­ences best pos­si­ble sys­tem would be in­tro­duced in which rep­re­sen­ta­tives of local bod­ies would not only be em­pow­ered but there would also sys­tem of check and bal­ance to keep a vig­i­lant eye on their work­ing. Se­nior Min­is­ter told that in new set up even Coun­cilor would be able to give de­vel­op­men­tal scheme through which pow­ers would be del­e­gated at grass root level and peo­ple’s prob­lems would bere­solved at the ear­li­est , as well. He said that con­tin­u­ous process is on way to pre­pare solid and con­crete pro­pos­als for the fi­nal ap­proval of the Prime Min­is­ter.
