Overcharging of fee by UDBH irks Umrah pilgrims
ISLAMABAD: Establishment of monopoly by Umrah Drops Box Holders (UDBH) has aggravated embarrassment of Umrah pilgrims due to overcharging of fee by the former from them.
The pilgrims have demanded of Saudi embassy to take notice of highhandedness being perpetrated by these UDBH in overcharging the fee.
Well placed sources told Online that SaudiArabia embassy in Pakistan has issued licenses of Umrah Drops Box to as many as 16 influential companies and they have established monopoly all over the country.
Every year about 15 to 20 lac pilgrims from Pakistan perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia and Umrah pilgrims strength multiplies during some first months of new Islamic year and in the holy month of Ramadan.
According to policy set by Saudi government, embassy does not issue visa drop box license to any old company.
Sources have disclosed that some influential persons have acquired this facility under new names in Pakistan who are charging fee to pilgrims higher than the fee set by Saudi embassy.
Visa drop box fee has been fixed Rs 50 while drops box companies are charging fee ranging between Rs 500 and 1000 per passport.
Talking to Online Umrah pilgrims have demanded that Saudi ambassador in Pakistan should take notice of this state of affairs and end the monopoly of few persons.
The overcharging of fee by the companies is bringing defamation for embassy staffers as well.
