Over­charg­ing of fee by UDBH irks Um­rah pil­grims

IS­LAM­ABAD: Es­tab­lish­ment of mo­nop­oly by Um­rah Drops Box Hold­ers (UDBH) has ag­gra­vated em­bar­rass­ment of Um­rah pil­grims due to over­charg­ing of fee by the for­mer from them.

The pil­grims have de­manded of Saudi em­bassy to take no­tice of high­hand­ed­ness be­ing per­pe­trated by these UDBH in over­charg­ing the fee.

Well placed sources told On­line that SaudiAra­bia em­bassy in Pak­istan has is­sued li­censes of Um­rah Drops Box to as many as 16 in­flu­en­tial com­pa­nies and they have es­tab­lished mo­nop­oly all over the coun­try.

Ev­ery year about 15 to 20 lac pil­grims from Pak­istan per­form Um­rah in Saudi Ara­bia and Um­rah pil­grims strength mul­ti­plies dur­ing some first months of new Is­lamic year and in the holy month of Ramadan.

Ac­cord­ing to pol­icy set by Saudi govern­ment, em­bassy does not is­sue visa drop box li­cense to any old com­pany.

Sources have dis­closed that some in­flu­en­tial per­sons have ac­quired this fa­cil­ity un­der new names in Pak­istan who are charg­ing fee to pil­grims higher than the fee set by Saudi em­bassy.

Visa drop box fee has been fixed Rs 50 while drops box com­pa­nies are charg­ing fee rang­ing be­tween Rs 500 and 1000 per pass­port.

Talk­ing to On­line Um­rah pil­grims have de­manded that Saudi am­bas­sador in Pak­istan should take no­tice of this state of af­fairs and end the mo­nop­oly of few per­sons.

The over­charg­ing of fee by the com­pa­nies is bring­ing defama­tion for em­bassy staffers as well.
