Unisame lauds green banking initiative
KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises ( UNISAME) has lauded the initiative of State Bank of Pakistan ( SBP) for Green Banking with the aim of promoting environmental consideration in banking products and services.
Zulfikar Thaver president UNISAME appreciated the guidelines issued by the SBP to encourage the banks to develop banking products and services to promote energy efficiency financing for their clients.
Saeed Afgan Joint Director SBP, Infrastructure, Housing and SME Finance Department has invited and informed Union of Small and Medium En terpr ises ( UNISAME) that State Bank of Pakistan ( SBP) and GIZ ( a German Development Co- operation) have jointly scheduled an interactive workshop on ' Energy Efficiency Financing ' on October 26th 2018 to promote understanding of market potential of energy financing, find solutions to issues and challenges and facilitate linkages between banks and businesses.
The workshop will be conducted by Ms Ute Zimmermann, an expert on Green Banking engaged by GIZ. Senior officials of Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations are invited.
Thaver urged the small to medium sized entrepreneurs ( SMEs) to install alternate renewable energy devices and equipment in their units to overcome the energy shortage.
He also urged the commercial banks to finance the SMEs for solar, wind and biomass devices and equipment for alternate renewable energy.
