Unisame lauds green bank­ing ini­tia­tive

KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium En­ter­prises ( UNISAME) has lauded the ini­tia­tive of State Bank of Pak­istan ( SBP) for Green Bank­ing with the aim of pro­mot­ing en­vi­ron­men­tal con­sid­er­a­tion in bank­ing prod­ucts and ser­vices.

Zul­fikar Thaver pres­i­dent UNISAME ap­pre­ci­ated the guide­lines is­sued by the SBP to en­cour­age the banks to de­velop bank­ing prod­ucts and ser­vices to pro­mote en­ergy ef­fi­ciency fi­nanc­ing for their clients.

Saeed Af­gan Joint Direc­tor SBP, In­fra­struc­ture, Hous­ing and SME Fi­nance De­part­ment has in­vited and in­formed Union of Small and Medium En terpr ises ( UNISAME) that State Bank of Pak­istan ( SBP) and GIZ ( a Ger­man De­vel­op­ment Co- op­er­a­tion) have jointly sched­uled an in­ter­ac­tive work­shop on ' En­ergy Ef­fi­ciency Fi­nanc­ing ' on Oc­to­ber 26th 2018 to pro­mote un­der­stand­ing of mar­ket po­ten­tial of en­ergy fi­nanc­ing, find so­lu­tions to is­sues and chal­lenges and fa­cil­i­tate link­ages be­tween banks and busi­nesses.

The work­shop will be con­ducted by Ms Ute Zim­mer­mann, an ex­pert on Green Bank­ing en­gaged by GIZ. Se­nior of­fi­cials of Cham­bers of Com­merce and Trade As­so­ci­a­tions are in­vited.

Thaver urged the small to medium sized en­trepreneurs ( SMEs) to in­stall al­ter­nate re­new­able en­ergy de­vices and equip­ment in their units to over­come the en­ergy short­age.

He also urged the com­mer­cial banks to fi­nance the SMEs for so­lar, wind and biomass de­vices and equip­ment for al­ter­nate re­new­able en­ergy.
