So­ma­lian am­bas­sador calls on HEC chair­man

IS­LAM­ABAD: Ms Khadija Mo­hamed Al­makhzoumi, Am­bas­sador of So­ma­lia to Pak­istan called on Dr Tariq Ba­nuri, Chair­man, Higher Ed­u­ca­tion Com­mis­sion (HEC) at the Com­mis­sion’s Sec­re­tariat and dis­cussed var­i­ous op­por­tu­ni­ties for So­ma­lian stu­dents study­ing in Pak­istani uni­ver­si­ties, cre­at­ing good­will for them and pro­mo­tion of higher ed­u­ca­tion.

Ba­nuri wel­comed the am­bas­sador to HEC and as­sured her of full co­op­er­a­tion and sup­port for So­ma­lian stu­dents as­pir­ing to study in Pak­istan. The am­bas­sador ap­pre­ci­ated the HEC and Pak­istani uni­ver­si­ties for fa­cil­i­tat­ing So­ma­lian stu­dents. She in­formed the Chair­man that around 1500 So­ma­lian stu­dents were cur­rently study­ing in Pak­istani uni­ver­si­ties.

The award of 100 ful­ly­funded schol­ar­ships to stu­dents from least de­vel­oped coun­tries of the Or­gan­i­sa­tion of Is­lamic Co­op­er­a­tion (OIC), an­nounced by the Govern­ment of Pak­istan, was also dis­cussed in the meet­ing.
