Induction of Portable Ventilators in ambulances of Sindh Rescue & Medical Services (SRMS)
KARACHI: In collaboration with the World Bank and Health Department, Government of Sindh, 10 portable ventilators have been provided to the Sindh Rescue and Medical Services (SRMS). Operated by Aman Health Care Services (AHCS) and funded for operations by the Government of Sindh, SRMS currently has a fleet of 60 life-saving ambulances that provides the only pre-hospital emergency medical care in Karachi. The induction of portable ventilators will support in the stabilization of critical patients while enroute to a healthcare facility. Training on the ventilators has been provided to the relevant crew of the ambulance ensuring that the equipment is used correctly and that even critical patients have an improved chance of reaching the health facility for further management.
The Government of Sindh has committed to increase the SRMS ambulance fleet size to two hundred and fifty for Sindh to adequately cater to the provinces emergency medical needs. The fleet size for Karachi is expected to be a hundred by the end of 2021.
