Rus­sia to sup­port Pak­istani busi­ness sec­tors

Lead­ing Rus­sian com­pa­nies Gazprom, Zarubezh­neftegaz and In­ter Raoues are keen to de­velop Pak­istan’s en­ergy sec­tor and will con­trib­ute to the build­ing of power gen­er­at­ing fa­cil­i­ties and de­vel­op­ing gas fields in Pak­istan. Dis­cus­sions on the sub­ject took place dur­ing Pres­i­dent Asif Ali Zar­dari’s re­cent visit to Rus­sia. A num­ber of other busi­ness sec­tors in Pak­istan are also at­tract­ing the Rus­sian busi­ness com­mu­nity for com­mer­cial, in­fra­struc­ture and bank­ing projects.

Pak­istan is es­pe­cially in­ter­ested in Rus­sia’s help in up­grad­ing Heavy Me­chan­i­cal Com­plex (HMC) Tax­ila, Pak­istan Ma­chine Tool Fac­tory, Karachi, value ad­di­tion in the tex­tile sec­tor, au­to­mo­bile man­u­fac­tur­ing with trans­fer of tech­nol­ogy and ex­pan­sion of Pak­istan Steel Mills. Pres­i­dent Zar­dari has also in­vited Rus­sian en­trepreneurs to in­vest in small scale five to ten megawatt power plants in Pak­istan. The two coun­tries also signed four MoUs in en­ergy, in­vest­ment, air ser­vices and agri­cul­ture co­op­er­a­tion
