Russia to support Pakistani business sectors
Leading Russian companies Gazprom, Zarubezhneftegaz and Inter Raoues are keen to develop Pakistan’s energy sector and will contribute to the building of power generating facilities and developing gas fields in Pakistan. Discussions on the subject took place during President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to Russia. A number of other business sectors in Pakistan are also attracting the Russian business community for commercial, infrastructure and banking projects.
Pakistan is especially interested in Russia’s help in upgrading Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) Taxila, Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, Karachi, value addition in the textile sector, automobile manufacturing with transfer of technology and expansion of Pakistan Steel Mills. President Zardari has also invited Russian entrepreneurs to invest in small scale five to ten megawatt power plants in Pakistan. The two countries also signed four MoUs in energy, investment, air services and agriculture cooperation
