In­te­gral En­ergy Ex­po­si­tion 2011

The Karachi Expo Cen­ter or­ga­nized three si­mul­ta­ne­ous events this year as part of an in­ter­na­tional rep­re­sen­ta­tion of Pak­istan’s en­ergy sec­tor. The 9th In­ter­na­tional Ex­hi­bi­tion for the En­ergy In­dus­try – POGEE 2011-show­cased a di­ver­sity of equip­ment and ma­chin­ery associated with the Oil, Gas and Power sec­tors. It en­abled busi­ness pro­fes­sion­als from all over the world to in­ter­act pos­i­tively and seek av­enues of co­op­er­a­tion.

The 7th In­ter­na­tional Con­fer­ence for Oil, Gas and En­ergy In­dus­try was held in con­cur­rence with the ex­hi­bi­tion un­der the theme of ‘En­ergy So­lu­tions: Lo­cal and Re­gional Prospects for Pak­istan’. The ex­hi­bi­tion was co-lo­cated with the 7th In­ter­na­tional Fire and Se­cu­rity Ex­hi­bi­tion_ Fire and Se­cu­rity Pak­istan 2011. This made it a com­plete event for the par­tic­i­pants,

Prom­i­nent in­dus­try rep­re­sen­ta­tives ex­pressed their views re­lated to the in­dus­try, at the in­au­gu­ra­tion cer­e­mony of the event. Eitezaz Ni­azi, CEO En­gi­neer­ing De­vel­op­ment Board (EDB), said, “Pak­istan’s ex­ports of en­gi­neer­ing goods in­clud­ing sur­gi­cal in­stru­ments, cut­lery and elec­tric fans can cross $1 bil­lion with the in­tro­duc­tion of stan­dard­iza­tion and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion. EDB is fo­cus­ing on three items in the en­gi­neer­ing sec­tor and they are sur­gi­cal items, cut­lery and elec­tric fans.” He fur­ther said, “We are help­ing sur­gi­cal sec­tor to get in­ter­na­tional cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and in­tro­duc­tion of stan­dards. Sim­i­larly, we are pur­su­ing this sec­tor to hire qual­i­fied en­gi­neers for pro­duc­tion con­trols and pro­cesses so that they can get good prices for their prod­ucts.”

Ad­di­tional Sec­re­tary, Min­istry of Pe­tro­leum and Nat­u­ral Re­sources, Rashid Mazari also spoke on the oc­ca­sion. He said that the Min­istry has asked pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ments to take legal ac­tion against those petrol pumps which stop sell­ing pe­tro­leum prod­ucts ahead of monthly price fix­a­tion .“We have asked the chief sec­re­taries of ev­ery prov­ince to take legal ac­tion which in­cludes can­cel­la­tion of li­cences and im­po­si­tion of fines for not sell­ing pe­tro­leum prod­ucts to con­sumers in the ex­pec­ta­tion of price rise”.

Chair­man In­sti­tute of Elec­tri­cal and Elec­tronic En­gi­neers (IEEE), Tahir Saleem sug­gested to the gov­ern­ment about the present en­ergy cri­sis, to in­tro­duce tech­nol­ogy based pro­grammes. Tahir Saleem also sug­gested the adop­tion of co­gen­er­a­tion as a so­lu­tion to the en­ergy cri­sis.

Aasim A. Siddiqui, Chair­man Pe­ga­sus Con­sul­tancy, the or­ga­nizer of POGEE, said that 150 lead­ing lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional com­pa­nies from 25 coun­tries dis­played their qual­ity prod­ucts at the ex­hi­bi­tion. He said Iran, Ger­many and China had ex­clu­sive pav­il­lions at the show.

This year ma­jor com­pa­nies from im­por­tant global economies par­tic­i­pated in POGEE the event, rep­re­sent­ing Canada, China, France, Ger­many, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Rus­sia, Saudi Ara­bia, Ser­bia, Spain, Tai­wan, the Nether­lands, UAE, UK and USA.

POGEE 2011 pro­vided com­pa­nies with op­por­tu­ni­ties of mar­ket­ing their tech­no­log­i­cal ad­vance­ments to high pro­file trade vis­i­tors.

In the Con­fer­ence on en­ergy so­lu­tions, speak­ers from Aus­tralia, Iran, Pak­istan, Saudi Ara­bia and UAE shared their valu­able in­sights while pro­vid­ing an op­por­tu­nity to the au­di­ence for pos­i­tive in­ter­ac­tion and knowl­edge about di­ver­si­fied tech­no­log­i­cal ad­vance­ments. The con­fer­ence also de­liv­er­ing com­pre­hen­sive in­sight into the oil, gas, en­ergy, fire and se­cu­rity sec­tors.

The ex­po­si­tion was sup­ported by the Min­istry of Pe­tro­leum and Nat­u­ral Re­sources, Min­istry of Wa­ter and Power, Board of In­vest­ment, En­gi­neer­ing De­vel­op­ment Board, Oil and Gas Reg­u­la­tory Au­thor­ity, Al­ter­na­tive En­ergy De­vel­op­ment Board, In­sti­tu­tion of Elec­tri­cal and Elec­tron­ics En­gi­neers Pak­istan, Re­new­able and Al­ter­na­tive En­ergy As­so­ci­a­tion of Pak­istan, Pak­istan Pe­tro­leum Deal­ers As­so­ci­a­tion and CNG Deal­ers As­so­ci­a­tion. fea­tured ex­clu­sive ses­sions by Al­ter­na­tive En­ergy De­vel­op­ment Board (AEDB) and In­ter State Gas Sys­tems.

Fire & Se­cu­rity Pak­istan 2011 in­tro­duced state-of-the-art tech­nol­ogy and safety mea­sures for the pro­tec­tion of peo­ple, fa­cil­i­ties, ma­chin­ery, mer­chan­dise and ve­hi­cles to avoid se­cu­rity in­ci­dents in the re­gion. It proved to be an ideal sourc­ing des­ti­na­tion for in­ter­na­tional and lo­cal man­u­fac­tur­ers to show­case in­no­va­tive prod­ucts and so­lu­tions to en­hance se­cu­rity man­age­ment and con­trol
