Integral Energy Exposition 2011
The Karachi Expo Center organized three simultaneous events this year as part of an international representation of Pakistan’s energy sector. The 9th International Exhibition for the Energy Industry – POGEE 2011-showcased a diversity of equipment and machinery associated with the Oil, Gas and Power sectors. It enabled business professionals from all over the world to interact positively and seek avenues of cooperation.
The 7th International Conference for Oil, Gas and Energy Industry was held in concurrence with the exhibition under the theme of ‘Energy Solutions: Local and Regional Prospects for Pakistan’. The exhibition was co-located with the 7th International Fire and Security Exhibition_ Fire and Security Pakistan 2011. This made it a complete event for the participants,
Prominent industry representatives expressed their views related to the industry, at the inauguration ceremony of the event. Eitezaz Niazi, CEO Engineering Development Board (EDB), said, “Pakistan’s exports of engineering goods including surgical instruments, cutlery and electric fans can cross $1 billion with the introduction of standardization and certification. EDB is focusing on three items in the engineering sector and they are surgical items, cutlery and electric fans.” He further said, “We are helping surgical sector to get international certification and introduction of standards. Similarly, we are pursuing this sector to hire qualified engineers for production controls and processes so that they can get good prices for their products.”
Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Rashid Mazari also spoke on the occasion. He said that the Ministry has asked provincial governments to take legal action against those petrol pumps which stop selling petroleum products ahead of monthly price fixation .“We have asked the chief secretaries of every province to take legal action which includes cancellation of licences and imposition of fines for not selling petroleum products to consumers in the expectation of price rise”.
Chairman Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Tahir Saleem suggested to the government about the present energy crisis, to introduce technology based programmes. Tahir Saleem also suggested the adoption of cogeneration as a solution to the energy crisis.
Aasim A. Siddiqui, Chairman Pegasus Consultancy, the organizer of POGEE, said that 150 leading local and international companies from 25 countries displayed their quality products at the exhibition. He said Iran, Germany and China had exclusive pavillions at the show.
This year major companies from important global economies participated in POGEE the event, representing Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Spain, Taiwan, the Netherlands, UAE, UK and USA.
POGEE 2011 provided companies with opportunities of marketing their technological advancements to high profile trade visitors.
In the Conference on energy solutions, speakers from Australia, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and UAE shared their valuable insights while providing an opportunity to the audience for positive interaction and knowledge about diversified technological advancements. The conference also delivering comprehensive insight into the oil, gas, energy, fire and security sectors.
The exposition was supported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Ministry of Water and Power, Board of Investment, Engineering Development Board, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, Alternative Energy Development Board, Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan, Renewable and Alternative Energy Association of Pakistan, Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association and CNG Dealers Association. featured exclusive sessions by Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) and Inter State Gas Systems.
Fire & Security Pakistan 2011 introduced state-of-the-art technology and safety measures for the protection of people, facilities, machinery, merchandise and vehicles to avoid security incidents in the region.
