Byco an­nounces first aro­matic petro­chem­i­cal fa­cil­ity

Pak­istan’s first aro­matic petro­chem­i­cal fa­cil­ity is to be set up by Byco Oil Pak­istan Lim­ited. The fa­cil­ity is ex­pected to come on line by the mid­dle of 2013. With a ca­pac­ity to pro­duce about 100,000 tonnes of ben­zene per an­num, 92,000 tonnes of paraxy­lene, 80,000 tonnes of isomer-grade mixed xy­lene and 50,000 tonnes of or­thoxy­lene, the fa­cil­ity can be re­garded as a mile­stone in the coun­try’s petro­chem­i­cal in­dus­try.

Byco also has re­lo­cated a plant from Italy to the Hub coastal area, while a new 120,000 bar­rels per day re­fin­ery is be­ing set up at the same site. With an ini­tial $ 200 mil­lion in­vest­ment, Byco will ex­port fifty per­cent of its prod­ucts to the Mid­dle East, Africa and China, while the re­main­ing 50 per­cent will be mar­keted in the coun­try
