Byco announces first aromatic petrochemical facility
Pakistan’s first aromatic petrochemical facility is to be set up by Byco Oil Pakistan Limited. The facility is expected to come on line by the middle of 2013. With a capacity to produce about 100,000 tonnes of benzene per annum, 92,000 tonnes of paraxylene, 80,000 tonnes of isomer-grade mixed xylene and 50,000 tonnes of orthoxylene, the facility can be regarded as a milestone in the country’s petrochemical industry.
Byco also has relocated a plant from Italy to the Hub coastal area, while a new 120,000 barrels per day refinery is being set up at the same site. With an initial $ 200 million investment, Byco will export fifty percent of its products to the Middle East, Africa and China, while the remaining 50 percent will be marketed in the country
